Learning About Transportation

Hello, my name is Christine Baker. Welcome to my site about transportation. In my city, the streets and highways are always packed full of cars, day and night. The high traffic levels have pushed city developers to consider new ways to transport large amounts of people to and from the city center. The solution they found was to build a light rail across a large portion of the land. Other cities have subways that provide the same benefits. I will use this site to explore transportation options utilized throughout the world. Please visit my site daily to see what’s new. Thanks.

Ride Share Vs. Airport Taxi

Jeffery Spencer

If you are looking for a driver to shuttle you from the airport to your destination, then an airport taxi service or a ride-sharing service can be a good option. But which of the two is best for you? Here are some things to consider.

Legalities of Ride Share Are Shaky

One thing to consider right away is the ride share situation at your local airport. Some airports have made deals with ride sharing services that allow them to pick up passengers directly at the airport. But other airports still make this illegal, which means that you'll have to get picked up covertly and risk having delays if you get caught doing it. Even airports that have legal ride-sharing services may usher these vehicles into a specific pickup spot at the airport, so make sure this is convenient to your baggage claim area; otherwise, an airport taxi service may be the best way to go.

Airport Taxi Has More Car Options

If you need a specific kind of car or wish to customize your experience, then an airport taxi may be better for you. You might not have that much say in what type of ride-sharing vehicle picks you up, but you can choose the size and type of car in your airport taxi service. You may also be able to request special features of your airport taxi, such as television screens in the back of the front seat.

Ride Share May Allow Multiple Passengers

One way that ride share may be ahead of the taxi is in the new multi-passenger pooling options that are coming out. You may be able to pay a lower fare in order to ride from the airport with one or more other passengers. Skip this if you're in a hurry, though, since you won't have much control over the route and you'll have to drop off other passengers along the way to your destination.

Airport Taxi Allows Advance Booking

If you are the type of person who likes to have it all figured out, then an airport taxi may be your best bet. You can book the type of vehicle, the driver, and the pickup time ahead of time and pay upfront so that all you have to do when you arrive is call your driver. While ride-sharing services may work out most of the time, you don't want to be stuck at the airport and learn that there are no cars in your area. Each service has its pros and cons, so it simply depends on what's most important to you.
